Uninstalling EcoIV from Visual Studio

Due to an oversight from our part, the installer for ECO that ships with RAD Studio 2007 will also install a partly finished version of ECO for Visual Studio.

It is not useable, but will repatedly ask for a license each time VS is started, and each time a project is opened. It will also ask for a license key when Microsoft Update applies a Visual Studio patch, but will then do so in the background.

The .reg file in this archive will remove the Visual Studio integration of ECO (but not the integration into RAD Studio 2007).

Please download the fix from http://capableobjects.com/download/ECOIV_vs_Unregister.zip

to link EcoSpace from the VS-built executable

What if I extract all the Package files and also an EcoSpace into a .dpk (for Rad Studio) and want to use the assembly from the C# project built using VS2005? Will it work without exceptions of license violation?

Wtf is...

Capable Objects? Did i choose to install it with CodeGear Studio? How Do i uninstall it?

You can uninstall ECO by

You can uninstall ECO by going to the Control Panel | Add/Remove programs, find Enterprise Core Objects and uninstall it.

Are you kidding?

Codegear?, Delphi?, Capable Objects???? - what is all this? Rarely have I encountered a more messed up product installation for only $1000. Now, I spend another 15 minutes to uninstall? something I could care less aobut and it still doesn't stop the license pop-up - apprearently there is some distinctinction bewteen Visual Workbench?? (that is not fixe??) and running the actual Delpi products??. Its all lost on my - I'm just NOT HAPPY. I would never recommend this to anyone - Delphi or Capable Objects.

Hi,
Every time I launch C++ builder I am asked to enter a license as well. Will your patch fix this prompt for license in C++ builder?
Thank you

The C++ issue will be fixed

The C++ issue will be fixed in the next update. We load the ECO binaries regardless of personality in the release build. Fixed now.

Every time I launch visual studio 2005

If/when i double click the .reg file, all that happens is it opens in notepad and thats it!, The problem still exists? should i merge the .reg file with my registry ? Is that what is supposed to happen on double clicking the .reg file? Any help would be much appreciated.

p.s- I'm running visual studio 2005 pro, and have just installed a trial version of codegear RAD studio, so if i do this, it won't mess my visual studio up will it??

Yes, merge it with your

Yes, merge it with your registry.

Some machines are set to do that on double-click, others require you to chose the context menu option of doing so.

You can also delete the corresponding keys manually using regedit or use the command line switches to regedit to merge the .reg-file.

The registry keys you delete by performing this action is simply to remove the knowledge VS has about the ECO design time binaries. It's as safe as it gets, though I'm obviously not going to promise anything. Standard disclaimers apply. Batteries not included. Serving suggestion only. Etc.
