Hi

I'm trying to use the Eco ASP membership provider with no success.

I uncomment the web config parts, add the references to
Eco.Web.ASPProviders.

I've then linked the CreateUserWizard to the EcoMembershipProvider.

I then get the error:

Could not load type 'Eco.Web.AspProviders.EcoMembershipProvider' when I run
it.

Any ideas or are there any examples anywhere on how to use Eco with the ASP
Providers.

Thanks

Nick

Yes, there is an example in the eco demos folder:

capableobjects\eco\4.0\demos\CSharp\ASP\Providers

It is in C#, but I hope it will give some insight into what is wrong.

Hi Jonas

I have no demo folder in capableobjects\eco\4.0. I installed from the
download version not the boxed product.

Is there anywhere I can download it?

Thanks

Nick

Correct. It is installed under
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa370806.aspx then
ECO\Samples\Pascal and csharp respectively. The actual path depends
on OS and local configuration.

Sorry, my mistake. Perhaps we should add a shortcut in the eco folder
to the demos (or in the start menu if it is not there already).

Hi

Thanks all. Documents\Eco on Vista.

I never noticed that folder. Probably a good idea to add to the start page
or something to let people know its there.

Nick

I'll have a look through

There's supposed to be a start menu item opening that folder under "Start|All
Programs|CapableObjects".

If it isn't there let me know and I'll investigate what ate it :)

Hi Jesper

Thanks for that. It appears I pay no attention to new items appearing in my
start menu.....

Nick

Hi

Ok - I've looked through the demos and I'm a bit further on.

New Eco Project.

Add reference to Eco.Web.Providers

Add Eco.Web.Providers package to the EcoSpace

Evolve Database

Copy Eco.Web.Providers.dll to the project bin directory (otherwise Cannot
Load Type error)

When I use the Create User Wizard I get the following error:

Action: GetUserNameByEmail

Exception: System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: type
at System.Activator.CreateInstance(Type type, Boolean nonPublic)
at System.Activator.CreateInstance(Type type)
at Eco.Web.AspProviders.EcoProviderSupport.get_EcoSpace()
at Eco.Web.AspProviders.EcoProviderSupport.OclPsQuery(String expr, String
vName, Object vValue, String vName2, Object vValue2, Int32 max, Int32
offset)
at Eco.Web.AspProviders.EcoMembershipProvider.GetUserNameByEmail(String
email)</Data>
</EventData>
</Event>

Any Ideas

Thanks

Nick

As they say, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't get it to check
the new start menu options :)

Its working!!!!!!!

For those wanting to have a go with them heres the steps:

Download the updated Eco package from Capable Objects

Install Sql Server 2005 (for some reason it didn't work with 2000)

Create new Eco project

Add reference to Eco.Web.Providers

In the Ecospace, add the Eco.Web.AspProviders.Eco.AspProviderPackage in the
UML Packages

Uncomment the provider settings in web.config

Yes, there were a couple of bugfixes for the Webconfig template.

What error did you get? Did you configure your persistencemapper
correctly?

Hi Jonas

I think the Sql Server problem was my fault. I created a new app to test
the new Eco package, and tested it before uncommenting the web.config by
mistake so the providers tried to create a SQL database in app_config.

The errors pointed to no instance of SQL Server 2005. When I downloaded SQL
2005, it then worked. I posted to the news group, then realised the user
wasn't in my Eco database. I then uncommented the web.config and all worked
as expected.

Trying too many changes at one time to get it to work and got confused.....

Regards

Nick
